Persimmon boss walks off camera when asked about £75m bonus
The boss of housebuilder Persimmon walked off camera when asked about his £75m bonus.
Jeff Fairburn was questioned about the controversial payout during a BBC interview.
The chief executive said he would “rather not” talk about it and added that the issue has already been “well-covered”.
When the interviewer persisted and asked if any lessons had been learnt from the episode, the chief executive walked off camera.
Fairburn can be heard saying that it was “unfortunate” he had been asked about the bonus.

The chief executive had originally been set to receive an eye-watering £100m pay boost, before it was marked down to £75m, under a long-term incentive plan linked to the share price.
The government’s Help to Buy scheme is credited with boosting demand for new-build homes, profits – and share prices – for builders since it was launched in 2013.
Fairburn took the role as chief executive in the same year, after joining the board in 2009 and the company in 1989.
