Grenville Turner will retire from Countrywide as non-executive chairman on 27 April with Peter Long, chairman of Royal Mail, announced as his replacement.

Long will take up the role of non-executive director with immediate effect before moving over as non-executive chair following Turner’s (pictured) departure.

His previous positions include joint chief executive of tourism group TUI AG, non-executive director of RAC and Debenhams.

Countrywide chief executive Alison Platt said: “On behalf of the board, I would like to thank Grenville for his dedication and significant commitment to the development of Countrywide during his tenure. As chairman and previously as CEO, Grenville has been unwavering in his stewardship of Countrywide. Personally, he has been unstinting in his support and guidance for me and his counsel has been invaluable.”
